Running Local LLMs is a game changer. Don’t get me wrong – I use all of the mainstream Ai models, switching based on the task.

But my real edge? Ollama + Hugging Face – if you know, you know.

Most people miss the power here:

  • Fresh models & datasets
  • Ready-to-run example environments
  • Full local control—no cloud, no data leaks

They are two totally separate libraries, most commercial LLMs are available on Ollama’s library – for the latest and greatest then its Hugging Face

Want the easy route to your own private LLM and you have a decent GPU? Install Ollama, flip on airplane mode, download a model – done. The Gemma and GPT-OSS models are great. Personally I find DeepSeek AI awful – convince me its not?

The benefits of working with these workloads?

Zero API costs. Perfect for Developers: route your app calls to a local LLM and extract clean .json with simple Python scripts (I do this daily) and always keep an eye on Hugging Face.

Pair those with n8n, and you can prototype entire workflows on your machine before touching pricey cloud tiers.

AI is accelerating everything – and it’s tough trying to keep up.

I watch hours of update videos every day, and still, new tools drop by the hundreds.

However – Hype cycles will burst. Tools like Sora 2 and Atlas from OpenAI are already eating smaller tools – even Wikipedia’s getting a run for its money from xAI’s fresh Grokipedia.com (my new go-to for unfiltered dives). The AI bubble could be forming, but it will be the larger players delivering efficient workflows that out do the smaller players. OpenAI and n8n are heavily in competition already.

But innovation lives on in open source.

GitHub is a goldmine – containing thousands of commercially free projects. I’m currently running emotion-rich TTS from text, fully local on my home lab. No subscriptions.

Paywall blocking you?

With a little dev know-how, there’s often a local, free alternative – and you can automate the whole pipeline.

I’m obsessed with this space.
